Briefly,
it is Ed Emery's goal to work to reduce taxes, the size of government,
and the burden of government regulation in our lives; to protect
the sanctity of human life beginning in the womb; to successfully
educate every child; and to return Godly values to our
culture.
Government
and Business
Ed believes that government is frequently out of touch with
the conservative principles of Southwestern Missouri. He knows
that our communities will grow and flourish when the farmer
and small businessperson are free to operate without unreasonable
restrictions. For too many years, government has been led by
those seeking to produce dependents, not productive citizens.
Government must provide opportunity, not handouts. Business
and workers, not government programs, are the key to a sound
future.
Sanctity
of Life
Ed Emery opposes all so-called medical techniques that would
give mere men the right to sacrifice a life in the womb by their
own arbitrary choice. He is against taxpayer funding of abortion.
He is in favor of informing and appropriately counseling those
seeking abortions to encourage them to do the right thing (choosing
life) for both their babies and themselves. Ed is for free speech
and for speaking the truth about abortions consequences,
whatever the opposition. Ed knows the fight to protect God-given
life must go on.
Senior
Citizens
Just as youth is the strength of our future, the elderly are
the wisdom and stability. They provide the anchor to the past
and direction for the future. Our elderly represent our heritage.
They must never be treated as property or as expendable. There
is certainly no place in "one nation under God" for
euthanasia or suicide. The elderly are a national treasure.
They should be treated as such.
Second
Amendment
Our Founding Fathers recognized that the greatest deterrent
to armed invasion and domestic violence was an armed citizenry.
They diligently protected our right to keep and bear arms by
the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
Ed believes it is our duty to continue
to protect that right.
Education
Ed Emery is convinced that God gave children to parents, not
to governments. Government must restore and protect the quality
of education. Parents must demand it. Our children deserve no
less. Something must be done to restore parental accountability
for their children's education. If nothing is done, our children
will continue to suffer in the short term and society will suffer
for the long term. One local educator has said that success
in education is three-fold: provide a skill base, prepare the
student to work with people, and enable the student to apply
what he/she has learned to real life. Education in Missouri
must be designed to achieve these goals. The classroom trust
fund is a good start, but more must be done. Ed is committed
to making education in Missouri successful.
Ed Emery will serve
you by standing for "life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness," voting by principle, rather than circumstance.
He will work with others who are like-minded, to restore government
that facilitates rather than opposes individual character, initiative,
and innovation. Ed wants to serve the citizens of District 126,
while working for the good of all Missouri, by providing "Leadership
in the Right Direction."
